Why are children’s dentist appointments so important?

It’s no secret that children are heavily influenced by what they do and see during their early years. With this in mind, making sure they understand the role teeth play, and making dental care fun and engaging is key. Happy memories of the dentist at a young age can be extremely powerful in instilling good dental habits, for life.

We recommend bringing your child in for their first appointment when their first tooth has come through. During your child’s first few appointments, it’s all about familiarising them with the environment of a dental practice and giving them the chance to get to know us here at Earley Dental Practice.

What happens during my child’s dentist appointments?

Here are a few examples of what is carried out during your child’s dentist appointments:

• Check their teeth are coming through well and without any structural abnormalities.
• Address any decay with treatment like fillings or fissure sealants.
• Offer non-judgemental and constructive advice to parents on diet and how to encourage children to brush regimentally at home.
• Support parents with any other concerns they have for their child’s dental health.
